Take Basic Steps to Fight the Flu
St. Rose Hospital will offer 2 free classes to promote community awareness on H1N1 and the steps to fight the seasonal flu. Each year in the United States, on average, more than 20,000 people are hospitalized and 36,000 people die from seasonal flu complications. This year the flu season could be worse. There is a new and very different flu virus spreading worldwide among people called novel or new H1N1 flu. This virus may cause more illness or more severe illness than usual. “Protecting yourself and your family is simple…vaccination and careful observance of very simple hygiene practices” says Dr. McCabe.
Join Dr. Robert McCabe, Chief of Infectious Disease at Alameda County Medical Center, and a partner with Diablo Infectious Disease for a one hour class. He will discuss the basic steps that will protect you and your family against the flu, and the importance of getting the seasonal flu vaccine. Dr. McCabe will also answer any question you may have about the H1N1 virus and who is at the greatest risk for the novel H1N1 infection.
The classes will be held at St. Rose Hospital in the Sherman L. Balch Pavilion on:
Saturday, September 26 2009 - 10:00am to 11:00am
Thursday, October 1, 2009 - 2:00pm to 3:00 pm.
